Flagtown Fire Department is 100% volunteer. Whether you want to serve as an active firefighter, bring prior experience, explore junior membership, or support the department in other ways, there is a path to get involved. Training and gear are provided, and you are always welcome to stop by on Thursday nights to learn more.

MEMBERSHIP PATHS

Choose The Role That Fits You Best

Firefighter (Active)

Age 18+

A hands-on volunteer role for residents who want to respond, train, and serve as active firefighters.​

Best fit: People ready for an active emergency service role and ongoing team involvement

  • No previous fire service experience required

  • Training and gear provided

  • Opportunity to respond, drill, and grow with the department

Junior Member

Ages 16-17

A structured introduction to the fire service for younger members who want to learn and grow into future service.

 

Best fit: Youth interested in responsibility, teamwork, and a future pathway to service.

  • Learn under supervision

  • Build familiarity with fire service duties

  • Pathway toward future active membership

Firefighter (Affiliate)

Trained Firefighters

A path for trained non-resident firefighters who want to serve with Flagtown and participate in crews, training, and responses.

Best fit: Experienced firefighters who want to continue serving with an active volunteer company.

  • Intended for trained firefighters

  • Department integration and response participation

  • Additional district and company training expectations apply

Associate Member

Age 18+

A support-focused role for people who want to help through events, administration, fundraising, and other key needs.

 

Best fit: People who want to serve the department without taking on an active firefighter role

Are you considering joining? Interested residents are welcome to stop by on Thursday nights from 7:00-9:00 pm during our weekly work-detail.

During this time you will be able to meet members, see the firehouse, and ask questions. You do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out.
