VOL. FIRE CO. 1
Protecting the citizens and property of Hillsborough Township NJ since 1938
It is the duty of the Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Company Number 1 to prevent the loss of life and property by fire, flood, disaster or any other emergency.
Service Before Self
"Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that something is more important than fear."
Excellence In All We Do
No mission is too difficult,
no sacrifice is too great
and failure is never an option.
Hillsborough Station 36 proudly protects more than 10,000 citizens in our response area. With the assistance of the other fire companies in town, we serve and protect more than 50,000 residents. As the township continues to grow, we strive to expand our all-volunteer membership as well as our capabilities. By continuously training and improving our techniques we are able to provide a high level professionalism and fire protection to the Township of Hillsborough, New Jersey.
The Flagtown Fire Department was the first fire company formed in the Township of Hillsborough, which is the largest town in the County of Somerset New Jersey. In 1937, seven members of the Township Board of Trade decided that Hillsborough needed its own fire company. On May 27, 1938, the Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 received its charter.
